La Petite Musique Piano Class
Doors to Music

Doors to Music is an early childhood music program for children 4 years of age and older, accompanied by their parents.
This critically-acclaimed program was established with the earliest beginner in mind. Offering a perfect transition from toddler music programs, Doors to Music provides students with the fundamentals of musical education while teaching them to play piano. With their parents attending the class in order to offer support and reinforcement at home, the children receive the added benefit of spending quality time with their moms and dads.
Instructor Lori De Vita Hofman has taught over 2000 students over the past 16 years
The program was conceived by Richard Holmquist, a leading musical educator. He based his philosophy upon current ear training programs, further honing Doors to Music to include note reading and classical materials. We are proud to announce that we have begun teaching the Doors to Music program in the Red Bank Public School system, having been chosen by PNC Bank and the Count Basie Cool School, as an outstanding music program worthy of their funding. Classes include:
  • Ear Training
  • Solfege Singing
  • Individual keyboards
  • Note Reading
  • Rhythm Reading
  • Percussion Ensemble
  • Two Recitals
Please call 732-308-4512 for tuition and fees. There is an additional 10% discount for siblings. Students may attend more than one class per week with no additional charge as long as the instructor is notified beforehand.
Please note that ALL students who have registered for the program have a one month grace period in which they can withdraw from the program with no financial penalty.

Keyboard Beginnings

Children learn to play the keyboard/piano in a relaxed positive atmosphere. Children attend classes each week with their parents and enjoy many activities together. The lesson includes singing with guitar, dance and movement activities, music appreciation, ear training, musical games, notation and rhythm reading. Children also experience playing many different instruments in class such as autoharps and xylophones.
The Keyboard Beginnings curriculum was written and composed by singer/pianist Judy Kagel. Having over 35 years experience, she has an extensive background as an accomplished music teacher of private and group keyboard lessons. Her goal is to develop in each student the beginning of a life-long appreciation of music and the pleasure of performing for one's own enjoyment.
Keyboard Beginnings is now in its twelfth year of existence and has been classroom tested with over 400 students in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
