Yvonne Chin began studying piano at the young age of four and a half. By the time she reached the age of 5, she began to study privately with Mr. Yining Wang and later continued with Professor Paul Hoffman. She has performed in a master class with Ilana Vered.

During Ms. Chin’s early years of study, she competed on state and national levels. At the age of 6, she was selected to be Miss New Jersey at the Miss American Princess Pageant and won first place at the National level and also performed at Carnegie Hall as the winner of the Piano Teacher's Society of America Competition. As a participant of PTSA, she received the Five-time Winner Award, which resulted in further solo performances at Carnegie Hall. In addition, as a Cecilian Club Competition winner, she was again afforded the privilege of performing solo at Lincoln Center. Other honors include solo appearances on Cable TV, receiving the Music in the Parks Accompanist Award, as well as the South Brunswick High School Choral Achievement and Middlesex County Principal and Supervisors Awards.

Ms. Chin continued her music education when she attended the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University as a recipient of the Edna Mason Durham Frazier Scholarship. During her years of study, she was accepted on the Deans List and graduated with High Honors, receiving her Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in Piano/Vocal General and a Minor in Psychology.

Ms. Chin has also taught General Music, Chorus and Beginning Strings in South Brunswick, while accompanying various choral groups and soloists. She has musically directed ‘Grease,' ‘Little Shop of Horrors,' ‘Damn Yankees’ and more. Her piano students have passed the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Exam with distinction, and performed in prominent venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Previously as a student, Ms. Chin received the New Jersey Music Teacher’s Association's 12 Year Award. Currently as a teacher, she plays an active role in the Association, serving as the Newsletter Editor as well as the Webmaster.
